What you need
- ✓ A Muse account (the free tier is enough for this)
- ✓ A Facebook account with Messenger
- ✓ One or more active Marketplace listings
That is the whole list. No coding, no third-party tools. Muse connects directly to Messenger.
The 5-minute setup
Connect Messenger
In Muse, connect your Facebook/Messenger account. This needs your login, so it is a human-only step: Muse cannot do it for you, and you should never share your password with anyone, including an AI.
Tell Muse what you are selling
For each active listing: the item, the listed price, your pickup area, and your general availability. Muse needs the facts before it can answer questions about them.
Approve your three replies
Muse drafts your answers for availability, location, and pickup timing in your words. Tweak them until each one sounds like you, then approve. It uses them from then on.
Set your watch hours
The default watch runs 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Outside those hours, messages wait for morning.
The master prompt (in the free pack)
The heart of the setup is a single master prompt: the exact instructions your Muse follows to interview you, draft your replies, lock in the standing rules, and test itself before going live. It is the part people get wrong when they try to wing it, especially the offer-silence rule, which is why it lives in the free pack instead of on this page. Every rule in it earned its place in a live setup.
What the prompt covers
- The interview: the five questions Muse asks, one at a time, before building anything
- Your three answers: availability, location, and pickup timing, drafted in your voice and approved by you
- The standing rules: what gets a reply, what gets silence, and what gets flagged to you instead
- The test: three trial messages, including a lowball, that Muse must handle correctly before the watch starts
- The troubleshooting scripts: word-for-word what to say when it replies to an offer, sounds robotic, or meets a question it cannot answer

What happens next
Muse asks the interview questions one at a time, drafts your three replies for approval, then runs the three test messages. The lowball test is the important one: Muse must confirm it stays silent. Once you approve all three tests, the watch starts. Ask Muse to show you the first real reply it sends, so you can confirm the tone is yours.
- Buyer
- “Hi, is this still available?”
- Muse
- “Yes, it's still available!”
- Buyer
- “Where are you located?”
- Muse
- “I'm in Stittsville.”
- Buyer
- “Would you take $40?”
- Muse
- No reply. Flagged to you instead.
The last one is the whole point. Offers and haggling are yours to handle, and Muse knows to stay out of the way.
The ground rules
- Three questions only. Muse answers availability, location, and pickup timing. Everything else waits for you.
- Any hint of an offer means silence. No exceptions, no partial replies, even if the message also asks an answerable question.
- Muse never invents details. Nothing about the item that you did not tell it, no committed pickup times, no phone number or address, and it never marks anything sold.
- You see every reply. Nothing happens behind your back.
When something goes wrong
Just tell your Muse what happened in plain words. The prompt already knows how to handle the common cases:
| Symptom | What to say |
|---|---|
| Muse replied to a lowball | “That message contained an offer. The rule is: any message with an offer gets no reply, even if it also asks an answerable question.” It corrects itself going forward. |
| Replies sound robotic | Give Muse one example of how you would actually text a buyer, and say “match this tone.” One example is usually enough. |
| A buyer asks something new | Muse flags it to you instead of replying. Answer it yourself the first time, then tell Muse: “Add this to the approved answers.” |
| You sold the item | Tell Muse: “The [item] is sold. Stop watching its thread.” Otherwise it keeps answering. |
| You want a break | Say “pause the Marketplace watch.” Messages wait until you say “resume.” |
Frequently asked questions
Will Muse negotiate prices for me?
No, and that is deliberate. Any message with an offer, a lowball, or price talk gets no reply at all, even if it also asks an answerable question. Negotiation is yours.
What happens when a buyer makes an offer?
Muse stays silent and flags the message to you, so you can handle it yourself.
Does it reply outside watch hours?
No. The default watch runs 9:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Messages that arrive overnight wait for morning.
Can it watch more than one listing?
Yes. Tell Muse about each active listing during the interview, and tell it when something sells so it stops watching that thread.
Is it safe to connect my Facebook account?
You connect through the official login inside Muse. Muse never asks for your password, and you should never share it with anyone, including an AI. You can remove the connection at any time.
What if a buyer asks something unexpected?
Muse does not guess. It flags the message to you instead of replying. Answer once yourself, then tell Muse to add it to the approved answers.
